Get to know more about the UCLA Coffins Project from Nicholas Brown, PhD Student, UCLA Egyptology! Learn about the ongoing work and the latest updates on the coffin of Thutmose III. This lecture highlights some of the different ways in which these royal coffins were reused and how these objects can inform Egyptologists about the changes in ancient Egyptian funerary practices at this time.

Since 2016, the UCLA Coffins Project has documented, studied and analyzed numerous coffins from the royal caches of Deir el-Bahari and the Valley of the Kings at the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. These coffins provide insight into the economic, social, and political crises of the 21st Dynasty and allow researchers to reinterpret the motives behind the reburial of these kings and queens.
